park-creative.com: working the web

This month we are concentrating on web design. Even though I am very much a “paper person”, I do occasionally create web sites. Updating my own site has been my biggest accomplishment thus far. We all know how hard it is to dedicate time to your own “stuff”.

park-creative.com is published using WordPress, a “personal publishing platform” that allows anyone with Web access to edit and update their own website.

Working with McBuzz Communications to personalize my site was the key. McBuzz’s Mark McLaren makes creating web sites so much less painful and gives you more insight than you ever felt possible. Visit Mark’s new site to get detailed information on web marketing, business blogging and search engine optimization.

Five years ago, software like WordPress was prohibitively expensive for all but medium or large corporations. Today, you can download WordPress for free.

Installation is relatively easy. If you know how to use FTP software, you can do it yourself. And, if that proves too difficult, many web hosting companies will install WordPress for you.

WordPress is not just “blogging” software. You can use it to create and maintain sophisticated websites that allow visitors to comment and share ideas. The Ford Motor Company Global Auto Shows website is a state-of-the-art PR and marketing website running on WordPress.
